  • Highlander Cowboy Sofa

    My wife and I purchased two of the Highlander Brompton Cowboy Sofas this summer. Our kids are grown and have moved out, so we decided to buy a quality set of sofas. We spent couple of weeks visiting many top tier national/local furniture companies looking for sofas. Our home is very rustic and we struggled to find sofas that looked like they belonged with our decor. The sofas we did like poorly made, mostly made overseas. What was represented as leather was nothing more than synthetic leather (leather bits mixed in a synthetic polymer base). The sofa frames were finger jointed softwood, or particle board. Frames were only stapled and twisted significantly when one end of the sofa was picked up. After exhausting the stores nearby, we expanded our search to online. We came across the Texas Web Store and the rusticcowhidefurniturestore.com site. Being a Texan myself, I have to admit I was instinctively drawn to the site. Add to that the fact that the furniture is made in the United States (specifically Texas) - that was another positive. We were concerned however that we would be spending a significant amount of money online, out of state, and the turnaround time for the product was at or near the cutoff to contest a credit card purchase. We decided to purchase the sofas anyway based on a man’s word. I am here to tell you – Danny Prince is a man of his word. Everything the man told me came true. He told me the sofas would be done in 10 – 12 weeks. That was a fact. We received text and emails letting us know as the production of the sofas proceeded. On delivery, one of the boxes was damaged by the shipping company, and Danny was on the phone with me by the hour until the sofas were un-crated and inspected. Fortunately, the sofas were just fine. I can tell you, the sofas were crated to withstand a nuclear attack – outstanding job on protecting the product. The sofas themselves are beautiful. (We sent pictures in, and they are posted on the site). I have spent my life building things from industrial gas systems, to our house, to Chevy small block racing engines. I say that to demonstrate I can tell quality construction. These sofas are just that. From the top grain leather, to the hardwood frames, to the consistent quality stitching throughout. These are well-made quality sofas that are well worth the money. I picked the sofas up from the end, and even with the weight of two motorized reclining systems, the sofas has very little frame twist. The cowhide that makes up the back and sides of the two sofas are well matched. I can’t say enough about these sofas. The whole process and the quality of what we purchased could not have been a better experience. We now have two fantastic sofas and a new friend. Respectfully, Bobby and Laura L

Subject: Coolest couch EVER:  Fancy Jane (as opposed to Plain Jane)!

 

I absolutely LOVE our new sofa!!  We wanted a statement piece and we got it, without sacrificing craftsmanship or comfort.  We chose Simpson Hershey leather which is smooth, gorgeous and indestructible, cowhide tight back and bottom rails, and a bench seat cushion with a beautiful removable cover made of Beaumont Magenta.  We wouldn’t change anything.  It is heavy and extremely well made along with being drop-dead gorgeous.  It is our “forever” couch and was worth every penny.  If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, just do it.  You will not regret it!

  

I would also like to comment on Danny Prince, the company’s greatest asset in my book.  He is easily reachable, quick to respond, knowledgable and KIND.  He was patient with all of my questions and gives high attention to detail and making his customers happy.  He understands the investment his customers are making and cares enough to get it right the first time.  I think he loves Fancy Jane as much as I do!!  He is a real gem in a world of dull rocks.  Thank you Danny for having my back and getting her home!

I am attaching 3 pictures so you can see how our box arrived today.  Our metal sculpture was
bent.  Now, we straightened it as much as we could, and we are actually going to hang this
outside so we decided to keep it and not send it back.

But, I believe you should share these pictures with your source so they know how they are
shipping the art is not supported enough; it needs another board or something to keep it safe
during the shipping process.

Hi, Danny!  Sure hope you and yours escaped all that bad Texas weather!  We have unexpected
drizzle here in Ventura this morning, which is  highly unusual this time of year, and we are going

I greatly appreciate your personal attention to my order and following up as you have. I bought
the longhorns as a Christmas gift to my very hard to buy for boyfriend.  He was completely

PS...get you some good leather conditioner to apply every now and then. Teju skin is a great skin
properly taken care of. All reptile skin will dry out faster than mammal skin, thus some good
leather CONDITIONER. Properts puts some out and are at most shoe stores. The # 1 thing you can
do to care for your boots is to wipe them clean of dust and grit occassionally if not worn often and
right after every use. NEVER dry them out with a heat source, use a fan or a blow dryer "air" only if
you need to get them dry quickly for some reason. If you have never worn boots before be aware
that the heel will slip more at first until the sole wears in a little and becomes more pliable. After
that it will still slip some, that is normal. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Now or

We love it! It arrived Tuesday, and by Tuesday evening it was hanging on the wall. The only
problem with it was that the very tip end was alittle bent, and I had to use a pair of pliers to
straighten it out. I think if you had used alittle bit bigger box this wouldn't have happened, as it
was actually poking through the box when it arrived, but we were able to fix it very easily and are

I am sorry to hear that you have been sick. I pray a speedy recovery for ya'll. Glad you like it so
much and that it survived. I apologize for the shape of the box and the scare.
You should use a leather conditioner on the shade avoiding the painted area. You can do the
inside as well as the outside. Once a year should be enough unless you notice certain areas
lightening more than the rest, then you should do it as needed to keep it uniform. Since leather is
natural it varies within each shade. You can get that at a boot store or a shoe store. Properts puts
out a good conditioner. If you can not find that you should be able to find some neats foot oil or
mink oil though either of those will darken it some. You can just apply it with your fingers if you
want to. FYI...saddle soap is a cleaner, not a conditioner like some think. If you ever have to use
that to clean a spot, be sure to condition it there after it dries as the saddle soap dries out the
leather a little.

I apologize for not getting back to you before now. We have been sick.
We received the lamp shade and we are in love with it. It far exceeds what we thought it would
look like. It is very beautiful. We are very fortunate that it arrived in tact. The box it came in was
practically destroyed. Wholes on each side and bent up. We could not believe it survived. Are we
supposed to baby oil it with a cloth, cotton ball or just spray the baby oil on? Over and under?
How often as we would like to keep it beautiful? Are we supposed to baby oil the painted portions
too?
We could have used an extra extra large shade as I do not think you carry that size ;) but this one
still looks beautiful. We thank you graciously for the beautiful product.

This is definitely Memorable...I nailed it on Memorial Day.
Hi Ray,
I think I have perfected it to the point of being marketable. It is still hand crafted and there will be
no 2 exactly alike, but they will be close. I quit trying to do the dimensions that you gave me and
did what is the most standard size for a table lamp, taking into consideration the brim on the hat.
You will see this hat posted on www.texaswebstore.com shortly. I have patterns made and many
hours of research and development invested but I have an item that only I am willing to do
(obviously). Let me know if you approve and I will ship it. The top and the bottom of brim are the
same now, I smoothed out the binding and I put the proper hat band on it. The exact same as any
standard straw hat has only modified to the proportionate size. You wanted brown but you wanted
it to be a real shade that light comes through normally. Well, it does. It is a darker brown than a
normal straw because you wanted something darker. It is lamp shade paper over lamp shade
styrene and bound with lamp shade bias tape. This is a true cowboy hat Lamp Shade. Let me know
what you think!!!

Yes, I received them and love each of them. Your customer service is outstanding and we
appreciate the followup. We built a second home near Yuma, Az and decorated it all Western.
Actually more in the realm of Vintage Western with a lot of Buffalo Bill Cody and made to look like
a parlor and such. So.................the frames fit in very well. We are gathering photos of our kids and

Package arrived earlier than I expected. Plastic knob on light switch was broken in shipping. No
problem, I found one on an old lamp
I had. Slight alignment problem while assembling the base, couple of the holes would not line up,
regardless of how I switched the
legs around. I had to elongate holes in mounting brackets on two of the legs. Being mechanically
inclined I did not have a problem.
However, it would have been a problem with a lot of customers.
Lamp is all I expected, and more.
